Lollipop Doll Quilt

Another niece is having a birthday.  I played around with a Lollipop charm pack and made this doll quilt.  I will be adding a border.

I like the solid colors in this line by Sandy Gervais..  I also like her Awesome line as well.

I hope to get this and the Music quilt I blogged about earlier quilted this weekend.

Music in my quilt room

My niece (one of them) has a birthday next week.  Piano is very important to her so I am working on a small quilt - wall hanging - off that theme.  I created a 2 octave keyboard to scale and are debating the border.  In the quilting process, I will outline the white keys.  The black keys are appliquéd.

I had purchased this fat quarter some time ago with the musical score so considering this for the border.  What do you think of the border?

Also, if you haven't already entered, please enter my giveaway in celebration of my 6 month blogging anniversary.  I will be giving away 2 mini charms of Sherbet Pips.  Please comment on this post to enter.

I am in love!!!

Just got my new iPad and had to immediately make the case using Pure from Sweetwater.  (Truth be told, I made the case the day I got the email saying it had shipped!)
My new favorite app is Flipboard - it makes blog reading absolutely wonderful.

I'm fast approaching my 6 month blogging anniversary and thought I would have a small give away - more on that soon.

FNSI Block Party

In support of Friday Night Sew In, I carved two hours for myself last night and was able to complete all my simple blocks.  I used a charm pack and a honey bun of Make Life.   A pile of blocks doesn't make for the most interesting photos but a blog post without fabric just isn't exciting (IMHO).

I need to determine the background fabric for the sashing and then play with the blocks.  Right now I am thinking about offsetting them from each other.  I have left about half of each honey bun strip which will give me some options for the border.

Introducing Sunny Days of Summer

I finally finished adding my border to my latest quilt made from a Moda Sweetwater Sunkissed layer cake.
I am really happy with my modified piano key border.  I couldn't support a full piano key as a result of having only the smallest of pieces left after piecing the stars.  Each piece of the layer cake was cut very carefully to make this work.
Some of the squares had a fussy cut center in order to be able to maintain the fabric with words.
I will have this one quilted by my long armer later this month.  It certainly will feel like summer with this quilt draped over the couch!
Thanks for the nice congratulations comments for my 1/2 marathon finish.  I appreciate it.

13.1

a picture is worth a thousand words...
I was very proud of myself and my 4 sisters for preparing for this and finishing!  The weather was perfect - sunny and cool.  What an amazing event to be in a race with 8,000 other women through Central Park!

Quick picture of my State Fair Schnibble using Fandango.   This is coming together really quick.  Next step is to add a piano key border.
Today I am off to NYC for the More Half Marathon in Central Park on Sunday.  Wish me luck!
