Mini Stems

Made a mini Mini Stems (pattern here at Fig Tree and Company) using Moda Horizon charm pack and some green from my stash.

The straight line quilting was fun to do - especially when the project is small.

This pattern was this month's challenge and the Schnibble parade time is Monday at A Quilting Life and Pink Pincushion blog.

I didn't bother to deal with the malls and black Friday shopping after Thanksgiving.  I did, however, get a head start on Cyber Monday!

Color explosion

I made this fun quilt - Color Explosion - from Sweetwater's Make Life Special line after I scored a charm pack and honey bun.

I really enjoy spiral quilting - I've a tutorial available if you are interested in giving it a try.

This is my ALYOF goal for November.  The link to my original post is here.  I'll be linking up here.

This would make a great baby quilt - both for size and color - or a wall hanging.

Happy Turkey Day!

To all my friends out in blog land - I wish you and your families a Happy Thanksgiving!!

(This cute turkey pattern is a modified version of the pattern on Bee in My Bonnet blog.)

My son will be home from college so we are looking forward to a fun family time with plenty of food and even more desserts!!

I made that Gobble Gobble quilt in 2011.

And this last one is from a panel where I practiced my FMQ back in 2010.

Stars and more stars!!

Houston - we have star quilts!

In May, I blogged about NASA Astronaut Karen Nyberg and the star quilt block she created while on the International Space Station.    (See a video of Nyberg--with her block--on board the ISS!

You were invited to create a star block of your own and send it in to be joined with hers to make a quilt.   I read that 2,200 people sent in blocks so they got a whole series of quilts which displayed at the Houston Quilt Festival in October.  You can see this amazing series of these quilts on Facebook.

This was the block I submitted using my precious TARDIS fabric.

And here it is in one of those quilts!  So, so cool!!

I think this is so cool!

Downton Abbey zip bag

Downton Abbey fans?

This comic was published back in February around the Superbowl.  Been saving it!

My mom requested a small zip bag for a friend.   Still have some of my fabric left.

From the Farm - blocks 54-56

I've crossed the half way point!

With 111 blocks in total, the lowly maple leaf puts me over the half way point!

#54 - Kitchen Woodbox

#55 - Linoleum

#56 - Maple Leaf -  No, I am not Canadian but how could I not make this red!

I do my group photos after I hit each group of 20 - gives me some incentive.  So another group photo coming up soon.

'Twas the Night

'Twas a few weeks before Christmas and time for another fun hop hosted by Mdmn Samm and Marlene.  We are giving and getting (!!!!) gifts that can be created in just a few hours.

When I heard Elizabeth was sending me something, first thing I did was check out her blog and saw she creates a lot using wool felt, something I've never done.  It was fun to anticipate the squishy envelope.

Aren't these beautiful?

The snowflake is my favorite.

Thanks Elizabeth!

Ornaments are great ideas for holiday gifts.

I am lucky enough to have 6 younger sisters and every year for as long as I can remember I will make them something for Christmas.

This year, they are getting a Pretty Trash Bag use in their car.

I created this for the Rush Hour hop and my pattern is available at Craftsy.

You can hang these from the dashboard in your car or put it on the floor.  They don't slide around.  You line them with a gallon size plastic bag (the kind with the twist tie) so your trash bag stays neat and clean.  And the best part?  No more Target or supermarket ugly bag hanging off the dashboard to attempt to collect the trash.

And the other best part? They take no more than an hour to make.  Kinda silly to love a trash bag but I just love mine.

Finally, I was excited to get my blog buddy Kris as the person to send my gift too.  We met through our blogs.  She has been a great cheerleader for me and I love seeing what she creates.

Let's go off to visit Kris!!  If you like what I sent, I have a pattern for that one too - made a whole collection of them last year for my sisters.

Now off to enjoy more blogs and find some time to get back into my sewing room.   Have a great holiday!  The full schedule for this hop can be found here.

Please put on the holiday music and go visit all the lovely ladies I am sharing today with:

A B C but no K or M

Found a series of posts on Temecula Blog with the alphabet so I dipped into my stack of AMB solids and started assembling.

This was a lot of fun.  I cut the K and M incorrectly so still need to sneak those in.

I am thinking this would be a cute baby quilt.

From the farm blocks #51-53

I used my favorite print on this first one.  I really like how it turned out.

#51 - Hovering Birds

#52 - Hovering Hawks

#53 - Jackknife - I think this one looks really cool.   The only problem is I messed it up - see the bottom corner?  Ugh.  Need to redo this one!

From the Farm block 48 - 50

Three more blocks done, 61 one left to go!

#48 - Homeward Bound - This one should have been each - lots of squares - but somehow I managed to sew it crooked.   I may actually do this one again without the paper piecing because it should be easy.

#49 - Honeycomb

#50 - Honey's Choice - this one was fun.

New Hampshire

This quilt is my own design using a Fig Tree fabric layer cake.  It finished 60" x 70".   Cathy Kirk did the edge to edge quilt design called JS Panto 27.

I gifted this quilt to my Aunt - she is married to my mom's brother.  She lives in New Hampshire and is a great lady.  A few years ago my daughter and I were stranded in an airport nearby and they rescued us late at night only to return us very, very early the next day.  My daughter still calls her "the aunt who saved us!!"

The pattern for this quilt will be available shortly.  I'm so excited!
