Quilting is finished on Elmer

My elephant parade - complete with Elmer - is all quilted.  I went with organic wavy lines - which is a fancy way of saying my lines are wavy on purpose!  I will hold off on binding for a bit because I'd like to personalize the quilt label and don't know who this is for yet!  I used a soft gray check flannel on the back.  I will do some work to add eyes and a smile for the frog.

Sew Fresh Quilts designed this wonderful Elephant Parade quilt.

Quilting this was my April goal for Another Lovely Year of Finishes. (original post)  I'll be linking up at Another Lovely Year of Finishes  and I'll be linking up at Sew Fresh Quilts and joining the linky party for the elephant parade.

Farmer's Wife Assembly Progress Report

A stack of 6" Farmer's Wife's block is a pretty sight.

I've wrapped each block with sashing or set it on point with triangles to create an 8 1/2" unfinished block.  I'm assembling in sections so that I am not continually dealing with long rows or 10 or 11 blocks.

The picture below is for the section shown by the x's.

Puppy Love - Snapshot Quilt along

I think I will outline the puppy in black to make him stand out more.   I'm using Moda Miss Kate for this quilt.  The green looks, well - so green.  I know it will blend in the final product but right now pops more than I would have liked.

Block 3 - Tea for Two

Block 2 - Sew on and Sew on:

Block 1 - Let them Eat Cake:

You can find the pattern for this month's block here and more information on the Fat Quarter Shop page.  Besides the fun of building the quilt, this is all about donating to St Jude.

Schroeder

I love how he can make concert hall quality music from a small piano!

Introducing Schroeder -

and then the other 2 blocks I've done -

Marcie -

She still needs her glasses.  But Marcie is all ready to join her best friend Peppermint Patty.

I purposely not finished off the background on these blocks.  I am going to use a non-traditional setting so I want to give me much flexibility on the background and placement.

Join the fun on this one here. and the pattern is from Tweety Loves Quilting..

Coffee Time!

Coffee time!

I designed this small table runner / mini quilt using two of the great fabrics from Clothworks Have a Latte line.    I ordered three of the prints and fell in love with the swirls so I made some giant coffee mugs!  (The coffee bean fabric is on the back of the mini.)

I put together a quick pattern for the Coffee Time table runner - check out my Elm Street Quilts blog for the details.

I loved this fabric so much that I put together a little bag for my briefcase to keep things all corralled.

There are two zippered pockets inside, one covered and one using a clear plastic.

I will be putting this bag to good use!

The full schedule for all the blog hop can be found at Joan's blog.  Thanks to Joan for being a terrific cheerleader along the way and for Samm for all of her continual support.

Now grab your cup of favorite morning caffeine and join me to tour the other lovely ladies on the hop -

My pretties

I love my pretties.... these Farmer's Wife blocks are just so cute to take out and look at.

All 111 of them.

Enjoy the parade.

  Blocks 1 through 25

blocks 26 through 50 -

 blocks 51 through 75 -

Blocks 76 - 95

Blocks 96 - 111

This was such a fun journey.   I posted about my first block on July 23, 2014.   The whole process took me about 8 1/2 months.  Most weeks, I did 3 blocks but there were a couple of weeks at the end of the year where I didn't do any.

When I made my New Jersey quilt, I had purchased this yummy stack of Vintage Modern fabrics.  I just loved my finish quilt and gave it away to my mom for Christmas.  I had lots of the fabric left so decided to make my FW quilt in the same fabric line.

Paper piecing allowed me to use the smallest of pieces - no small scrap was spared.

Thanks to all my blogging friends for all your encouragement along the way!!

The End - Farmer's Wife 109 - 111

Happy dance!!

#109 - Windows

#110 -  Wood Lily - this one had 57 pieces!  I pieced across 3 different sit downs at the machine.  Used lots of tiny pieces of fabric!

#111 -  Wrench

The end.   I am so glad that I made all of these blocks.  So much fun.  Paper piecing was the only way to go.

Three more blocks to go!

Before doing this week's blocks, I placed every block to triple check what colors I needed.  So excited to get this one together.

Zebra sighting

Put together this quick and fun block designed by Lorna from Sew Fresh Quilts.    I had this fun black & white fabric so thought I'd assemble a fun block.

For Easter, my daughter made bunny cupcakes - almost too cute to eat....

Hope your week is going well.

I am going to wait before I add all the details and likely do it once it is a quilt sandwich.

Farmer's Wife - 103 - 105

Most Friday nights while I share a movie with my daughter, I work on my weekly 3 block allotment.  When I sat down last weekend, I did block 103 and 104 but couldn't find the printed paper for block 105 anywhere.

Since I've planned out the color placement of all the blocks and had recorded the planned color on the block pattern paper, reprinting also meant laying out the whole quilt just to be sure.

But turns out I already did 105 when I was waiting to be rescued by two blog friends with some blue fabric.  Whew!

#103 Whirlwind  - just love this blue dot print

#104 - Wild Geese - I had planned to do this block in all gray but as I was assembling it, decided that a spot of blue would really pop.

#105 - Wild Goose Chase

Six blocks to go!!!!   Happy dance!
